get to know the history
The origins of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can be traced back to the early 20th century, when a young man named Carlos Gracie was introduced to Judo. Carlos and his brothers adapted Judo techniques to their own style of fighting, which emphasized ground grappling and submission holds, rather than striking. This style eventually became known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and it quickly gained popularity as an effective form of self-defense and sport. Our academy is built on the strong foundation established by Carlos Gracie and his family, including the legendary Helio Gracie.
From Tradition to Evolution: Our Approach to BRAZILIAN Jiu Jitsu
At American Jiu-Jitsu Academy, we believe in the evolution of jiu jitsu. We combine old-school Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with new-age techniques to provide a comprehensive training experience. Our approach is rooted in tradition while maintaining a modern mindset to remain at the forefront of jiu jitsu. We strive to create an environment that fosters growth, where students at any level can be challenged and improve their skills daily. We believe that jiu jitsu is an ever-changing art, and our goal is to help our students evolve with it.
